--
’सविकारम्’ / ’savikāram’ - undergoing changing of forms, subject to mutation,
Chapter 13, śloka 6,
icchādveṣaḥ sukhaṃ duḥkhaṃ
saṅghātaścetanā dhṛtiḥ |
etatkṣetrasamāsena
savikāramudāhṛtam |
--
(icchā dveṣaḥ sukham duḥkham
saṅghātaḥ cetanā dhṛtiḥ |
etat kṣetram samāsena
savikāram-udāhṛtam ||)
--
Meaning :
Desire, repulsion, joy, sorrow, the gross body as the composite of 5 elements, consciousness, and just or unjust conviction, In brief, these all together are named 'kṣetra' / the field (where-in all activities take place).
--
Note :
According to sāṅkhya, the puruṣa is the only conscious (cetana), immutable underlying principle (Subjective Reality, Brahman) of the Whole Existence. In comparision prakṛti is the insentient objective Reality that keeps undergoing change all the time. So prakṛti is said to be vikārī, vikāraśīla, -subject to mutation, while puruṣa is avikārī - immutable principle, -ever unaffected by change.
