--
’स्थावरजङ्गमम्’ / 'sthAvarajangamaM' - moving and not moving
--
Chapter 13, shloka 26,
yAvatsanjAyate kiMchit
sattvaM sthAvara-jangamaM |
kShetrakShetrajna-saMyogAt
tadviddhi bharatarShabha ||
--
Meaning :
O bharatarShabha (arjuna) ! Whatever movable or not-moving comes into being and is seen as manifest, Know well, this essence is there because of the contact between the 'known' and the one who knows this 'known'.
--
[§ It may be noted that there are 2 kinds of movable / not-moving objects :
The 5 elements (mahAbhUtAni) and the beings (bhUtAni).
Again the 5 elements and the beings (bhUtAni) are 'sentient', where-as the objects that are in-sentient are the part and whole of 'kShetra' (The known). The One, who 'knows' the 'known' is the ''kShetrajna'.
This way we come across 'a consciousness' associated with all 'beings', which live a dual nature. On the one hand they are the 'individual', and on the other hand, the pure 'One' / The One Who just 'knows' the 'known' without participating in any way in the actions.]
