आज का श्लोक, ’सुराणां’ / 'surANAM'

’सुराणां’ / 'surANAM' - देवताओं का, देवों पर,

अध्याय  2, श्लोक 8,

न हि प्रपश्यामि ममापनुद्याद्
यच्छोकमुच्छोषणमिन्द्रियाणाम् ।
अवाप्य भूमावसपत्नमृद्धं
राज्यं सुराणामपि चाधिपत्यम् ।

(न हि प्रपश्यामि मम-अपनुद्यात्
यत्-शोकम्-उच्छोषणम्-इन्द्रियाणाम् ।
अवाप्य भूमौ-असपत्नम्-ऋद्धम्
राज्यम् सुराणाम्-अपि च आधिपत्यम् ॥)

भावार्थ :
चूँकि शत्रुओं से रहित भूमि का स्वामित्व, धन-धान्य से सम्पन्न राज्य तथा देवताओं पर आधिपत्य होने पर भी  मुझे वह उपाय नहीं दिखलाई देता, जो  मेरी इन्द्रियों को सुखा देनेवाले इस शोक से मुझे छुटकारा दिला सके ।

na hi prapashyAmi mamApanudyAd
yachchokamuchchhoShaNamindriyANAM |
awApya bhUmAvasapatnaMRddhaM |
rAjyaM surANAmapi chAdhipatyaM ||

Because, even if I get the kingdom of this land bereft of the enemies and full of affluence, and the lordship of the heavens, I don't see a cause that would drive away my grief that is scorching my senses.
