--
’शंससि’ / ’śaṃsasi’ - you praise / recommend, commend,

Chapter 5, śloka 1,

arjuna uvāca -
sannyāsaṃ karmaṇāṃ kṛṣṇa
punaryogaṃ ca śaṃsasi |
yacchreya etayorekaṃ
tanme brūhi suniścitam ||
--
(sannyāsam karmaṇām kṛṣṇa
punaḥ yogam ca śaṃsasi |
yat-śreyaḥ etayoḥ ekaṃ
tat me brūhi suniścitam ||)
--
Meaning :
arjuna said : O  kṛṣṇa!  You speak of  Renunciation (saṃnnyāsa) of action (karma), and at the same time You  praise yoga also! Please tell me with certainty, which of the two is superior.
--
Note :
In this and following śloka of this Chapter 5, the meaning and essence of Renunciation is explained. The Renunciation could be either at the formal level when one renounces the possession of things, but does not give up the idea that the action happens because of the three attributes (guṇa) of prakṛti  and one is always free and unaffected from all action (karma) and the notion of "I do  / I don't do" are but illusion only, Or at a deeper level of understanding this truth.
