आज का श्लोक,
’शुक्लकृष्णे’ / ’śuklakṛṣṇe’

’शुक्लकृष्णे’ / ’śuklakṛṣṇe’ - शुक्ल एवं कृष्ण गतियाँ,

अध्याय 8, श्लोक 26,

शुक्लकृष्णे गती ह्येते जगतः शाश्वते मते ।
एकया यात्यनावृत्तिमन्ययावर्तते पुनः ।

(शुक्लकृष्णे गती हि एते जगतः शाश्वते मते ।
एकया याति अनावृत्तिम् अन्यया आवर्तते पुनः ॥)

भावार्थ :
जगत् में इन दो मार्गों ( शुक्ल और कृष्ण) को, जिनसे जीव देह-त्याग के अनन्तर प्रयाण करता है, सनातन माना जाता है  । एक (अर्थात् श्लोक 24 में वर्णित अर्चिमार्ग) से जानेवाला योगी पुनः संसार में नहीं लौटता, क्योंकि वह परमात्मा में विलीन हो जाता है, जबकि अन्य मार्ग (अर्थात् श्लोक 25 में वर्णित धूम-मार्ग) से जानेवाला इस संसार में पुनः जन्म लेता है ।

’शुक्लकृष्णे’ / ’śuklakṛṣṇe’ -  śukla and kṛṣṇa the two ways that a departed soul follows after death,

Chapter 8, śloka 26,

śuklakṛṣṇe gatī hyete
jagataḥ śāśvate mate |
ekayā yātyanāvṛttim-
anyayāvartate punaḥ |

(śuklakṛṣṇe gatī hi ete
jagataḥ śāśvate mate |
ekayā yāti anāvṛttim
anyayā āvartate punaḥ ||)

Meaning :
These two paths that a departed soul follows after death are the only proper eternal paths of the universe. Departing by one (śukla / bright), one gets merged in the Brahman, while one following the other (kṛṣṇa / dark)  returns in a rebirth.

Note :
One who has attained clarity about the nature of Being / Reality follows the path of light, while another who has not attained this clarity, remains in doubt / darkness.
