आज का श्लोक, ’श्रद्धाम्’ / ’śraddhām’

’श्रद्धाम्’ / ’śraddhām’ - निष्ठा की भावना को,

अध्याय 7, श्लोक 21,

यो यो यां यां तनुं भक्तः श्रद्धयार्चितुमिच्छति ।
तस्य तस्याचलां श्रद्धां तामेव विदधाम्यहम् ॥

(यः यः याम् याम् तनुम् भक्तः श्रद्धया अर्चितुम् इच्छति ।
तस्य तस्य अचलाम् श्रद्धाम् ताम् एव विदधामि अहम् ॥)

भावार्थ : जो जो भक्त श्रद्धापूर्वक मेरी उपासना मेरे जिस जिस स्वरूप में करने की इच्छा करता है, उस उस भक्त की उसी श्रद्धा को मैं अपने उसी उसी स्वरूप के प्रति सुदृढ और सुस्थिर करता हूँ ।
टिप्पणी :
यदि इस श्लोक (21) का तात्पर्य पिछले श्लोक (20) के सन्दर्भ के आधार पर करें, तो यहाँ ’तनु’ / ’स्वरूप’ का अर्थ होगा ; देवता-विशेष ।

’श्रद्धाम्’ / ’śraddhām’ - trust, inherent spontaneous inspiration about the truth of oneself and the world and the principle that governs them both.

Chapter 7, śloka 21,

yo yo yāṃ yāṃ tanuṃ bhaktaḥ
śraddhayārcitumicchati |
tasya tasyācalāṃ śraddhāṃ 
tāmeva vidadhāmyaham ||

(yaḥ yaḥ yām yām tanum bhaktaḥ
śraddhayā arcitum icchati |
tasya tasya acalām śraddhām 
tām eva vidadhāmi aham ||)

Meaning :
Who-so-ever is devoted to Me, and in accordance to his trust, inherent spontaneous inspirations, perceptions and feelings about Me, wishes to worship Me in My what-so-ever form of his, I strengthen his feeling, give it firm foundation and make it steady.

Note :
the word 'trust' could be traced to its root in saṃskṛta to ’śrita’-meaning dependent upon. Trust is genuine, authentic in the first instance, while faith, belief, idea, and other words convey something acquired, learned and accepted just because of social, religious or traditional conditions and could be replaced by any another set of those values.
