आज का श्लोक, ’विमोहयति’ / ’vimohayati’

’विमोहयति’ / ’vimohayati’ -  मोहित करता है,

अध्याय 3, श्लोक 40,

इन्द्रियाणि मनो बुद्धिरस्याधिष्ठानमुच्यते ।
एतैर्विमोहयत्येष ज्ञानमावृत्य देहिनम् ॥

(इन्द्रियाणि मनः बुद्धिः अस्य अधिष्ठानम् उच्यते ।
एतैः विमोहयति एषः ज्ञानम् आवृत्य देहिनम् ॥)

भावार्थ :
(श्लोक 36, 37 में कहा गया कि यह ’काम’, यह ’क्रोध’ रजोगुण से उत्पन्न होनेवाला अत्यन्त पापी ही बलपूर्वक मनुष्य को न चाहते हुए भी पाप से संलग्न कर देता है । श्लोक 38, 39 में कहा गया कि ज्ञानियों का यह नित्य-वैरी ज्ञान को वैसे ही आवृत्त कर देता है, जैसे धुएँ से अग्नि, मैल से दर्पण तथा जेर / आवरण में गर्भ छिपा होता है, ...)
मनुष्य  के अन्तःकरण में इन्द्रियाँ, मन तथा बुद्धि को इसका आधारभूत स्थान कहा गया है, इनके माध्यम से यह ज्ञान (विवेक) को आवरित करते हुए जीव को मोहित करता है (जिससे उसकी बुद्धि भ्रमित हो जाती है और उचित-अनुचित में भेद नहीं कर पाती) ।

’विमोहयति’ / ’vimohayati’ - deludes, deceives,

Chapter 3, śloka 40,

indriyāṇi mano buddhir-
asyādhiṣṭhānamucyate |
etairvimohayatyeṣa
jñānamāvṛtya dehinam ||

(indriyāṇi manaḥ buddhiḥ
asya adhiṣṭhānam ucyate |
etaiḥ vimohayati eṣaḥ
jñānam āvṛtya dehinam ||)

Meaning :
(In the earlier śloka 36, arjuna asked : though unwilling, what forces one to indulge in sin ? To this Lord śrīkṛṣṇa says in śloka 37, 38 and 39, : it is desire, it is anger born from rajoguṇa (passion)
that do this and the same covers up the discrimination between right and wrong. This very enemy of the seeker and the seers alike ....)
The senses, mind and intellect, are said to be its abode where-from by covering up his faculty of discrimination ( viveka) between the right and the wrong it deceives the soul of man.
