’वेदितुम्’ / ’veditum’ - जानने के लिए, जानने की,
अध्याय 18, श्लोक 1.

संन्यासस्य महाबाहो तत्वमिच्छामि वेदितुम् ।
त्यागस्य च हृषीकेश पृथक्केशिनिषूदन ॥
--
(संन्यासस्य महाबाहो तत्वम् विच्छामि वेदितुम् ।
त्यागस्य च हृषीकेश पृथक् केशिनिषूदन ॥)
भावार्थ :
अर्जुन कहते हैं -
'हे हृषीकेश ! (हे कृष्ण !) हे महाबाहो! संन्यास और त्याग, दोनों के स्वरूप का तत्व क्या है, आपसे इसे मैं पृथक् पृथक् सुनना चाहता हूँ ।'

Chapter 18, śloka 1,
saṃnyāsasya mahābāho
tatvamicchāmi veditum |
tyāgasya ca hṛṣīkeśa
pṛthakkeśiniṣūdana ||
--
(saṃnyāsasya mahābāho
tatvam vicchāmi veditum |
tyāgasya ca hṛṣīkeśa
pṛthak keśiniṣūdana ||)
--
Meaning :
O Mighty-armed hṛṣīkeśa (kṛṣṇa)! Please tell me the essence of saṃnyāsa and tyāga in their comparison and contrast !
[saṃnyāsa = Complete renunciation of sensory pleasures and abiding in the Self that comes through understanding their transient nature and the nature of the Brahman / Truth / Self, which is eternal peace and tranquility, bliss. tyāga = practicing of viveka (discrimination between truth and untruth) and vairāgya (dispassion, lack of attachment and aversion to sense objects and the pleasures / pains experienced from them)].
