’वाङ्मयम्’ / ’vāṅmayam’ - वाणी से संबंधित,
अध्याय 17, श्लोक 15,
--
अनुद्वेगकरं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत् ।
स्वाध्यायाभ्यसनम् चैव वाङ्मयं तप उच्यते ॥
--
(अनुद्वेगकरम् वाक्यम् सत्म् प्रियहितम् च यत् ।
स्वाध्याय-अभ्यसनम् च एव वाङ्मयम् तपः उच्यते ॥)
भावार्थ :
वाणी के स्तर पर किए जानेवाले 'तप' के अंतर्गत अपनी वाणी को ऐसा रखना जो किसी के लिए उद्वेगकारी न हो, जिसमें मिथ्यावचन न कहे जाएँ, जो सबके लिए हितकारी तथा प्रिय हो, तथा जिसमें आत्म-जिज्ञासा संबंधी ग्रंथों का पठन -पाठन एवं चिंतन-मनन जप आदि होता हो ।

’वाङ्मयम्’ / ’vāṅmayam’ - related to speech ( kind of gross / sthūla, subtle / sūkṣma, and causal / seed, kāraṇa / bīja,)
Chapter 17, śloka 15,
anudvegakaraṃ vākyaṃ
satyaṃ priyahitaṃ ca yat |
svādhyāyābhyasanam caiva
vāṅmayaṃ tapa ucyate ||

(anudvegakaram vākyam
satyam priyahitam ca yat |
svādhyāya-abhyasanam ca eva
vāṅmayam tapaḥ ucyate ||)

Meaning :
The austerities of words spoken or thought, that one should observe include speaking truth, speaking what does not cause distress to oneself as well as to others, which are helpful to all and soothing. And of the words of scriptures, that one need to study, contemplate and meditate upon. Repetition and chanting of the Mantras that makes the mind pure and full of devotion .
