आज का श्लोक, ’रात्रिः’ / ’rātriḥ’

’रात्रिः’ / ’rātriḥ’ - रात्रि, रात,

अध्याय 8, श्लोक 25,

धूमो रात्रिस्तथा कृष्णः षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम् ।
तत्र चान्द्रमसं ज्योतिर्योगी प्राप्य निवर्तते ॥

(धूमः रात्रिः तथा कृष्णः षण्मासाः दक्षिणायनम् ।
तत्र चान्द्रमसम् ज्योतिः योगी प्राप्य निवर्तते ॥)

भावार्थ :
धूम (अग्नि की तुलना में) रात्रि तथा कृष्ण-पक्ष, छः मास दक्षिणायन के, वह काल और स्थिति है, जिसमें देह-त्याग करने के बाद योगी पुनः मनुष्य योनि में जन्म लेता है ।

’रात्रिः’ / ’rātriḥ’ - night,

Chapter 8, śloka 25,

dhūmo rātristathā kṛṣṇaḥ
ṣaṇmāsā dakṣiṇāyanam |
tatra cāndramasaṃ jyotir-
yogī prāpya nivartate ||
--
(dhūmaḥ rātriḥ tathā kṛṣṇaḥ
ṣaṇmāsāḥ dakṣiṇāyanam |
tatra cāndramasam jyotiḥ
yogī prāpya nivartate ||)

Meaning :
Having attained the knowledge partially (dhūma), night, the dark-fortnight of the Moon, and the six months of the southern course of the Sun (winter-solstice), are the times and ways indicative of the fate of a yogī, who (after enjoying fruits of his auspicious deeds in heavens) returns to the next birth as a human once again.
